Variety of Website Content

You can also use a Microsoft Word look-alike WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor to edit any content on a pre-existing web page. For some website content, it makes sense to define a type of content and edit each content listing individually and display the group of them together. Different examples of content includes events, articles, online petitions, FAQ and web links.

Required content fields are labeled in red and optional content fields are labeled in black. Using categories (explained below) you can also often define default selections with content listings. While there could be several content fields associated with a content style, every effort is made to simpliy content entry. For example, image and attachment uploads can be performed within the General Options of the CMS as well as within the editing page of a particular content listing (Manage Content).

Searchable Website

Your website comes ready with a complete content search. All content you enter via the CMS can be included in a search. Having a searchable website makes it easier for website visitors to more easily find the content they desire.

Content Auto-removal

To maintain timeliness of website content, you can associate an end date or an expiration with a content listing. You might want past calendar entries to be automatically removed from your online website calendar or articles relating to a specific event to be automatically removed after that event has past. It's possible to define a default expiration period, e.g. three months, to be the default when editing content listings .

Workflow Control

You can control work flow by using the status attribute. Three status exist by default with CMS Source. These are Submitted, Archived and Publish. Any content marked as Publish will appear on the website. Any content marked as Archived will be excluded from a mass purge of expired content. Additional status fields for your convience can also be defined and function like Submitted, which keeps the data in the CMS for editing excluding it from display on the website. Optionally, you can allow website visitors to contribute content which will be marked by default as Submitted. As a website administrator, you can choose edit, approve (mark as Publish) or delete the contribution.

Additional Information Pointers

Sometimes it's useful to point users to additional information within your content listing. You can upload images and attachments and associate them with a content listing as well as provide an email or named (primarily phone) contact. You can also associate your content listing with a website link (URL) to an internal or external site.

Display Options

Since not all content may be treated the same, you have control of where to position and how to display the content. The textual description of content can be edited using a Microsoft Word look-like WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor. You can override the default display order of content (usually most currently edited/posted at the top) by setting an optional position value and override the default order for that content listing. You can also mark a content listing as highlighted, which causes that content listing to be displayed with special custom emphasis on the website.

Categories

Sometimes it is desirable for content entered once within the website to appear on multiple places within the website. This organization may increase length of website visitor stay and improve your standing with search engine robots. For example, articles may be divided into multiple categories such as basic articles, features and alerts allowing features to be displayed prominently on the home page, alerts to scroll in a marquee on the home page and all three to be included in an internal articles web page.

Supercategories

Another way to organize website content is using categories and super categories. Defining categories is simply a way to group similiar content, e.g web links related to diet and web links related to exercise. By using supercategories you can have a dynamicly created drop down menu to allow your website visitors more easily select/filter the content they desire. While categories apply to website content of the same type, supercategories may apply to all website content listings. An example of a supercategory would be issues, where articles, events and petitions related to global warming could be grouped on the same web page as well as within the different articles, events and petition pages. This organization may increase length of website visitor stay and improve your standing with search engine robots.

Bulk Email

There are several options to sending bulk email. A website email list signup can be placed within the website. Unlike many other website, the visitor is given a special password associated with his/her email signup. This makes it harder for his/her email list settings to be illegitimately altered. As a website administrator, you can define one or more email lists. Not all lists have to appear as options for website visitors; you may want a private email list for organization committee members. Email can be distributed using the basic system mail function, but most web hosting services do not extensively allow this use. Email can be grouped for timed delivery to work around webhosting restructions. The best solution is to use a webhosting service that supports the EZMLM utility. Proud Daddy Web Design can offer competetive prices on a webhosting service that supports EZMLM.

Online Event Signup

This feature allows you to define an event and, optionally, several locations thereby creating a form for website visitors to sign up for your event. Multiple ongoing events can be defined.

Online Petitions

This feature allows you to create an online form for website visitors allowing them to send email to the recipient you select with a pre-prepared or custom edited message.

Bulletin Board

This feature, similiar to a blog, allows you to have website visitors leave feedback. This feedback can be moderated or unmoderated. Unmoderated feedback appears immediately on the website and unmoderated feedback requires the intervention of a website administrator to approve it's posting.

Content Selection and Export

Because content listings can become lengthy, you can alter the display of content listings by choosing sort order, filter by particular fields or only search for content with a particular search word. You can also export the entire or custom filtered content listings to a text file on your personal computer.

Search Engine Optimization

Using categories and supercategories allows for single entry of content that can appear in multiple places on the website. This increases the change that your website visitors will more easily find the content they want and improves your ranking for that content with search engine robots.
