Client Computer Requirements

Only an internet connection and current browser, preferably Netscape, Firefox or Mozilla, is required. The content management system (CMS) can be accessed from any Internet ready computer with current browser. No required website information is stored on the client's computer.

Web Hosting Requirements

CMS Source requires a UNIX web hosting service that supports Apache, SSH, PERL, PHP and MySQL. Preferentially, bulk email support should have EZMLM. For database backups, which increase recovery time in case of disaster, MySQL command line support is required at the shell level.

  • UNIX is an very reliable operating system used for many purposes and frequently found hosting websites.
  • Apache is the web server software commonly used on the UNIX operating system.
  • SSH is a UNIX service that allows remote secure shell access to the web hosting server.
  • PERL and PHP are programming languages.
  • MySQL is a database.
  • EZMLM is software to facilitate the management and delivery of bulk email.
